A QR ("Quick Response") code is a square barcode that stores data, most often a web link, which any modern phone camera can read instantly. They bridge the physical and digital worlds: a code on a poster, menu, business card or package takes someone straight to a page without typing a thing. Static versus dynamic. A basic (static) QR code encodes the destination directly, so it works forever and needs no account, but the destination cannot be changed once printed. Dynamic codes (from paid services) point to a redirect you can edit later and can track scans, which matters for marketing but is overkill for a one-off link. For most personal and small-business uses, a static code is all you need.
Making one that scans reliably. Keep good contrast (dark code on a light background), leave a clear quiet zone (blank margin) around it, and do not shrink it too small for the distance people will scan from, a code on a poster needs to be much bigger than one on a business card. Test it with a couple of phones before you print in bulk.
